The idea being developed was for the event “Capturing Routine” where a gallery will take place in Toronto, Ontario. In this gallery, Mateuze Urbanowiscz’s photography of urban Japanese streets will be displayed from his 30 year period of taking film-based photographs. I decided that since the event was going to be based around photographs, I would try to somehow integrate design cues that related to photography, into the poster’s main design. The muddier colour palette was to achieve a welcoming warmth, while also being somewhat dirtier. The use of the curvature and handwritten style in the title was supposed to be what Mateuze’s writing would potentially look like. The “routine” was created in a sort of typewriter-type font which was supposed to have more of the feeling of an older Leica or Nikon camera, which at the time of the 80’s had more of a serif typeface.
